Thanks for all the comments, the restoration has been a big job and I am quite happy with the result.
Its not perfect, far from it but I built it to use and it will be clocking up the miles towing our camper trailer as well as fencing materials, chainsaws and all the logging gear I use up at the farm block. I will get my techno son to dig out a "before" photo......and show what I started with many years ago, a very ugly, part militarized M38 bodied, knackered engine, heaps of wrong stuff but hidden underneath was the early column shift Jeep that has finally emerged. Now what?????????

Yes some quite warm days here at the moment, about 25C yesterday, I semi fluid grease I used in the CV housings started to drip a little bit, todays cooler and no leaks....must go one grade heavier on the grease and it should be ok. I used NOS WW2 felt seals on the swivel housings, rubber might have been better, but I think the felt ones will bed themselves in a bit. Will bleed the brakes tonight, then can give it a bit more right foot!.... Adrian

OK Bruce, I'll pull it all apart and mail it to you and then you can reassemble it for me before I get there
I did think about driving it back to Ohio.....It would be a hell of a trip and would need to ship it to CA first then go cross country, perhaps it should just remain a dream?. Brakes tonight, then will give it a good workout, drive it like you stole it.....just kidding. Adrian

I dream about driving mine back to Ohio, although this time it would be towed behind my Cherokee. |
