I ordered a carb kit for my W/O  636SA. The float needle and seat are different than what was in the carburetor. However, the one in the kit appears to be the same as the one shown in the service manual. I am including a picture. The one on the left is the one in the kit. The one on the right is the one that was in the carburetor.

Can anyone tell me if it would make a difference if either was installed?

Thank you,

Roger F

The replacement needle & seat from the kit is what you want.  The rubberized tip on the original tends to deteriorate overtime causing fuel to leak passed the needle.

the one on the left is the one to use. It looks like the original.

Thanks for the help with the needle and seat. Onward with the rebuild. I downloaded the universal service manual and am working from that. I replaced the metering rod, metering jet, and main nozzle, as they were included in the kit. As I read through the manual and the adjustments, I find I need some special gauges, which of course I don't have!

To adjust the metering rod, back out throttle lever
adjusting screw "C", Fig. 120, and close the throttle
tight. Using gauge T-109-26, Fig. 120, (supplied
by Carter Carburetor Co.) loosen nut "B" and
move pin until it seats in the notch of the gauge.

To adjust the pump stroke, pump gauge T-109-
117C (supplied by Carter Carburetor Co.) should
be used.

Anyone have a work around for not having these gauges?

Finally (for now) there is a factory hole in the body that goes through to the meter (see picture) Is this normal? I have looked through many pictures but can't find a straight on picture. In the angled pictures, there doesn't appear to be a plug there

Thank you,
