Hi everyone, so I just bought a bantam trailer. I believe it's a 1946 or 1947. There is no data plate and am trying to get one made. Where can I find it elsewhere on the trailer? I looked under the leaf springs mounts and couldn't find any. ( but I'm pretty sure that's for the military era anyway). Reasons why I think it's a 46 or 47. It has one taillight hole(left), four leaf springs, three strap hooks on each side one in front and back, the axle is solid and seamed in the middle, and the bantam logo is under the tailgate is italicized.

Nice trailer!
Sorry to tell you its too new to have an ACM number stamped on the frame gusset. It's a 47 or newer based on the later rear shackles. I have the License Plate Brackets in the Items for sale area if you are interested.

So are you saying without a data plate there is no way to find the original serial number? If so how can I register it?

Unfortunately if you can't find the data plate or have a title that lists the serial number you are going to most likely apply for a new state issued VIN, title and registration. Every state is different, but you are going to have to jump thru some hoops to get it on the road legally.
I am going thru it as well right now. My trailer has no data plate, ACM or title. It is a real pain in Pennsylvania. Good luck. |

Just got my new tag, registration and state issued data plate in the mail today. 19 days and almost $300.00 in fees, inspections, hassles etc... Still waiting on the physical paper title to come.
Like I said before, I would advise against buying a vehicle in Pa (or a similar state) with out a title or serial number.... Let us know how you make out in California.
