    Posted: 10 Aug. 2016 at 11:02pm
I was getting ready for a show next week and looking at some copies of early ads I display.  On this one - http://farmjeep.com/img/ads/yes-you-can.jpg - I noticed that on the picture of the disc, it states "Hydraulic-lift implements are raised and lowered by control on dash."  This ad if from January 1947.

I am aware that some Newgren lift owners used the HY-LO-Jeep pump, which did have a control handle on the dash.  But I've always assume the majority of the Newgren lifts were sold with the crankshaft pump and the between the seats control rod.

So not sure if this a marketing error or the HY-LO-Jeep pump was used much earlier than we knew.  Any thoughts, ideas or data greatly appreciated.

Know anyone who has access to the Monarch history?  Been looking around and know they were sold in 2007.  I've set a note to Bucher hydraulics asking for contact info.  My experience hasn't been great when working with large companies who have swallowed smaller privately owned ones.

At a show yesterday, a young guy came up and said he had a 1946 CJ2a in his barn.  It was his father's and it had a PTO and some sort of lift, but not like our Newgren.  I pulled out my phone and showed him a picture of the Love lift on our site.  He said "That's it!"

I told him I'd try to help him with the restore (at least information).  So I was looking through all the info on the Web.  I came across this newspaper article - http://www.ewillys.com/2014/07/25/love-hydraulic-lift-system-in-popular-science/  Clearly the same picture as in the ad.  So my error - it is a Love lift not a Newgren.

Would still like some Monarch history.

Not my error - Look at this undated Newgren brochure -

Same picture and definitely a Newgren lift.  Still don't understand why a Newgren lift would have been shown in the Love ad/newspaper clip.

Barry,

It seems to me the same players that made the Love also made the Newgren. I'll have to dig through my stuff as I don't remember where I saw that. Maybe Joe Friday or Bob W know.

I've been going through all the old articles on the Web on the Love Lift and it appears that Newgren was involved (at least as a distributor) very early on.  I'm just fascinated by the appearance of the same photo - clearly the later Newgren design lift arms - appearing in the media announcements.   I need to dig out some Newgren history again.  I'm amazed by the number of times I'm led back to farmjeep.com, which means I was at least aware of things and have forgotten.  Bummer getting old and (more) forgetful.

I'm also every curious about the push button dash control described in the ads and articles.  Never seen a setup or even a diagram of the controls.  Has anyone?
