I've been thinking about these springs as well, thinking about something that would give a smoother ride (longer springs).
But I'm afraid of how much lift it will give! I wonder if the holbrook springs can be used with one of the leafs removed?

I have 1" Superlift springs, RS9000 shocks, and 32x10.5x15 super swamper radials on my 3B, it has a great ride! For Comparison when I get into my stock 2A with 7:00x15's and new stock springs it feels like a buck board! I can hit a pt hole in my 3B and it just sucks it up, in the 2A I can feel every pebble in the road!

Raidial tires alone will make a big difference in ride.

I've got some radials on order, if they fit without any additional lift, I suppose I should try them out without any suspension changes first!

Any updates for someone with Holbrook springs installed on a CJ2A?? I cannot find anyone with a Superlift 1' lift kit in stock and Superlift is not scheduled to build any new kits until sometime in 2014. Rancho does not build a 1" lift kit for Cj2A's any more. So if I get 2.5" lift I might as well go with the Holbrooks and get a better ride at the same time

Bringing this one back up. Anyone else use the Holbrook springs? A friend mentioned them as a solution to my rock hard ride.
I've read their site, and it seems like quite the improvement over the stock setup. Thoughts? |

I don't have Holbrook springs but I had a set made where I reverse engineered a set of Holbrooks and made some changes to match my application. Basically mine are Holbrooks with 1" less lift and I moved the pin on the front springs back 3/4". Here are the details:
There are some flex shots on page 51: .... the difference in flexibility really is night and day and everyone who ever rides or drives BAM BAM off road agrees. ... i would have gone with a set of Holbrooks but I did not want 3" of lift. Knowing what I know now, I would not be afraid to buy a set of Holbrooks and tweak them in a press to get a little less lift. HTH. |

This may not be the response that you were looking for, but I have rear leafs on all four corners. So that means I installed the longer, stock cj2a rear springs on the front as well. It was a minor retro fit, but the nose is much softer now. I also have a 4.3 Vortec sitting on them. Just food for thought, instead of dropping a lot of cash on Holbrook springs. Originally that is what I was going to do (Holbrooks) and a lot of people love them. Mine are 2 1/2 inch lift. But I run 35's

How would Holbrooks for a 2A compare with CJ5 springs as they are longer then the 2A already?
OK I at least know how my CJ5 frame and springs compare to a stock 2A frame and spring setup in the front my springs are a little over 2" longer and Mounts in the front CJ-2A = 34.75" CJ-5 = 38.4" so my springs/mounts are 3.65" longer then stock Mounts in the Rear CJ-2A = 40.62" CJ-5 = 44.77" so my springs/mounts are 4.15" longer then stock OK looking at the Holbrook site their springs are way long CJ-2A front mounts are 45.75" a part 11" farther apart then stock CJ-2A rear mounts are 49" a part 8.38" farther apart then stock I guess I am in the middle then stock compared to Holbrook Edited by Mark W. - 11 Feb. 2017 at 2:15am |
