No problem. I sure wish I could have found one with a white needle. That orange just doesnt match. I was able to find a chrome bezel with white needle, but no black bezel with white needle. Ugggh, I guess its a first world problem

Thanks Daniel....appreciate the picture. I am giving up on the Autometer and going with the VDO that Peter suggested. FWIW, I tried that Autometer sensor on 2 different alternators with the same result....nothing....

This weekend I managed to get my new tachometer wired and installed. I used the 333-965 VDO that Peter recommended. I also used an Autometer ATM-2204 to mount it to my steering column. I installed a tap wire into my alternator using the instructions that Peter documented earlier in this build thread. It was simple to do. I then did a temporary hookup of the tach so that I could get it calibrated. I used an optical tachometer to establish a baseline and then was able to calibrate the tach. My DIP switches on the back of the tach ended up being 1-off, 2-on and 3-off. This got me in the rough range and then I was able to adjust the tach using the side adjustment screw.

Looking good Glad i didn't steer you wrong. I was going by memory since i didn't document it at the time. I was in expedite mode since vacation was so close.
Any surprises in terms of what RPM you were getting vs what you thought? What idle speed are you seeing? I just got my rig out for a few chilly miles last weekend. I could tell the motor mounts were stiffer than normal. I'm thinking about doing something like Buck did and trying to find some liquid filled ones. I think it might allow for a lower idle before the rattles really get bad.

Hi Peter,
It's idling around 1200 RPM...like I said, it's a bit higher than I like but it seems to have solved the dying at stoplight thing that it was doing. I have still not experimented with the springs from Kubota.....might do that soon. I have not driven it so I can't confirm if the governor is kicking in before I get more boost pressure.... I like the idea of a more vibration isolating mount. Your directions were spot on....thanks again.

Hi Larry,
Your build is fantastic. I just purchased a V2203 for my '48 and will be starting a build thread shortly. I am in the process of ordering the appropriate parts. I am located in Canada and only 2 hours from Greg at Overland Diesel so i'm lucky there. Quick question for you. What model fan did you go with, Flex-a-lite 14" with a thermo sensor? Where did you source that linkage arm for the throttle setup? How long of a throttle cable from Lokar did you need, 36"? Where did you order your Pyrometer and other gauges from? I have not posted an update for some time. I am still putzing around with my turbo boost. I did find that somewhere along the line, my throttle ended up out of adjustment. It was only opening 3/4 of the way. That has been corrected and now I have good power again and am getting about 10lbs of boost. I'm happy with that and I don't need an intercooler for that boost level.

HAH, sometimes it's something simple like that, the throttle not actually opening all the way :D I've decided that I don't need to intercool mine as well, so I'm dropping that idea, at least for the time being. |

I also had the bottoms of my seats redone about a month ago. The corners had worn through. I took the seat bottoms over to Jesse Lee's upholstery on 64th ave (about 3/4 miles from my house). Jesse redid the sides of the seats and they look great. I would post a picture but my browser is giving me grief.....oh well, you all know what Jeep seats look like anyway.

I have been having troubles with the old hydraulic stoplight switches in my Jeep. I seem to need to replace them every 2 years or so. So last month with the help of this fine CJ2A board, I found some information for converting to a mechanical switch. It worked great for a couple of weeks and then would work intermittently. I finally tracked down the problem to my turn signal switch....it is an old Yankee Turnflex unit with a built in flasher switch. I took the switch apart, cleaned and lubed it and it seems to be working great now.
I also installed a new master cylinder a few weeks ago. My Jeep has the 11 inch brake conversion on it and with the new non-leaky master cylinder, it is like power brakes! I have a remote mount master cylinder reservoir that I will install one of these days too. |

I used some scrap aluminum to fabricate a cup holder for my Jeep.
I had purchased the billet holder for another project and never used it so I figured it would work for my Jeep. It holds Gatorade style bottles, regular water bottles and cups...and it can do it at the same time... I like it. What do you all think? |

Here is the link on Ebay for the billet cup holder. Kind of spendy....but I had it sitting on my shelf...
