One thing that I didn't know until I was told by a few other members (thanks guys/gals!) was that there is more than just a CJ2A forum here.
As a suggestion, maybe change the logo "You're on The CJ2A Page" that's at the top corner of each page to say "Click here to go to the CJ2A Page" or something like that...just something to direct people to the other "main" page that has all the information, links, photos, etc.
Just a thought.
(I posted this on the forum suggestions page as well)
Thanks!
Andy

Russ, I think Gary hit on it in the other post. It's probably not that they found this without going to the Home Page so much as it is forgotten or worse yet, not fully explored to find out what is there before they just bookmark the forum page and not the Home Page................an icon (can't have too many right?) or at least different wording would just be a jog to the memory of those that have forgotten or never really payed any attention to the Home Page.......There are a BUNCH of folks here that aren't familiar with the layout from the old days and would just assume there's not much more here, when in reality there's a bunch of great info cataloged here..........sorry you took it as flack but it has come up before now.

Russ, don't be discouraged.
You have the best and fastest growing web out there. The things we cry and complain about are there, but only a distraction for the ones that have been here awhile. Most will love this place without all the "good stuff".This forumn has grown to umteen levels since I've found it. I can't thank you enough for your suppling this site for us to consume.
I have my hat off to you. THANKS for all you have done.
Oh, and I think rocnrol is one that keeps us on our toes when it comes to "user friendly"

Thanks Gary and Roc.
I'm not discouraged, I just don't like to make quick changes. Also I am just trying to see where/how people get to the forum with coming from the main page. I am guessing the search engines. Russ |

Russ, Yup I googled some CJ2A topic and a thread from here that matched my request came up, and I just went straight to it and bookmarked it (the front page of the forums). Andy |

Russ,
Your thoughts on making big changes is one to be admired. Most of the folks don't like big changes.

Andy, thanks for filling me in!
Gary, yes especially people that work on 60 year old machines! I still miss the guys who did not follow us to the new board. I wish some of them would give the new board a try. Russ |

Sure thing. What "format" was the old board? Was it really THAT big of a deal/change to make some people NOT use this one? |

Russ, I've kept in touch with at least one of the old timers and he moved on to other projects, still has his 2a, just was into his Corvair. I think that is normal for the life cycle of someone on a project. one, two maybe three years. After your gone for awhile and come back it's not like you came home... the names have changed, the tree that was there is gone, and the creek has been dammed...... Yes, change is hard for alot that don't like change. |
