Flat Fender folks, the International Flat Fender Club has a new spreadsheet on the Facebook page. It let's you put in your area and all the members and patrols near you pop up. Really cool to find jeep folks near for event, help, and fun! Please sign up as this is getting big. I bet we get 20 new members per day! It is a private group so you have to request to be a member.   This keeps the spamming away and your info private. See ya on the trail!

Hi all,
I am very happy to hear about the growth of the IFFC Facebook page but I would also remind everyone that not all of us are on Facebook and I have no plan to join Facebook for personal reasons. ..... Most of the IFFC patrols were birthed on the 2A page and I hope we can agree that the growth and popularity of our flagship patrol, the CFFC is due in part to the reporting and photos posted here on the 2A page.

...... so I would not discourage you from posting on Facebook but I do encourage you to also post your photos and information here on the 2A page so that myself and other non facebookers can enjoy and participate with you.

Before Facebook, the 2A page was out Facebook

Yes, Jeff and Bruce are correct in that general chatter and such should still hang here on Russ' 2a page. We even had a Web page for the IFFC but since the club is supposed to be a non profit ND have no dues, setting up a website proved to be too costly. Russ even offered but I just could not put that burden on him. The idea of the IFFC fb page is a central location for finding jeep guys near you so you can join a patrol and do events like the CFFC. The reason we chose fb is because it is so easy to use vs a website. Folks can post pictures without needing to host them on a picture site. And most importantly is fb reaches out to people who may not know the IFFC exists. The last item is fb allows us to have an interactive spreed sheet where you can put in your location and it will pop up with members near you or patrols in your area. So please sign up on fb at least long enough to get your contact info on the spreed sheet. And if your patrol or group is doing an event and you want folks to join in then please post the details.   The site has a calendar for that. We want ALL flat fender events posted there so we have a one stop spot. I have noted that many jeep folks don't use the 2a page. Some are on the 3a or 3b pages. Some g503 and some on sites like ewillys or willystech.   They miss out. So the fb allows you to have a one stop spot to figure out what jeep fun is going on. I fully expect to have the individual pages remain the hub for tech and fun chatter. Way back when I started the CFFC this was one of my goals. We now have members world wide! Many thanks to Russ' cj2apage for helping with the dream!

It's a free world out there, but I tend to agree with Jeff and Bruce.  I am not a real fan of face book either!  Not real comfortable!

Chuck, You don't have to do fb to be part of the IFFC.  That just was the cheapest and most modern method of having the spreadsheet for you guys to use.  Shoot me your contact info and I can add you to the spreadsheet and you can always ask me to look up your patrol for you.   If someone knows a better way please let me know.  The goal is to make it easy for patrols to form and for them to find members in their areas.  Also to have a calendar that is easy to access and update.

I do not do Face Book but, I went to the Face Book page, did not figure out how to move through it.  Scrolling down the list is all I could do.  Found something about the spread sheet but could not open it up.  Some how the cj2a page is easy for me.

I will see if Emily can do a video. Maybe we can figure out a way to have a copy on here too. Anyone know a way?

Hello, I do have Facebook, but I tend to not use it much. I rarely post and I keep personal info out. I also have my settings set for maximum privacy. I understand why folks don't want to use it.

So having said all that, I thinks it's a good idea to have a central place for all Flatfenders. (Being an M38A1 owner too, I kinda lean towards a Willys site as the "umbrella", but just tooooo much to try to cover!) As stated above, there are a lot of models & interests and specific websites have their place. But there is a lot of crossover and it's hard to jump from webpage to webpage to try to get it all.

If I want technical information I have G503, CJ5 sites, CJ2A and others. Now that I'm retired I'm looking for meeting folks and participating in runs. For that, I think the
Facebook page can be a great central resource to find events and folks. It's all good, just gotta find that balance!

Johnnygeep,
Well said. The IFFC is more of a central meeting place. Just like you said, there are so many Web sites and fb pages that it is nice to have a way to group folks into patrols so you can gather to have fun. If one is having detail issues with a cj3a you would probably use the 3apage. If you want to gather for a trail ride or swap meet, then post details on the IFFC calendar.

We have upgraded the IFFC spreadsheet and it is fantastic.   You can find members near you. Since not all do fb, just email Emily Boyd or myself and we can input your info or look up members for you. If you have an event you want posted you can put that on the calendar. There are now over 750 members world wide. Patrols are forming up and having jeep fun. Pm me with any questions.
