My wife's grandfather just passed down number 80701 to us. It had been in his barn in Chilhowie VA for what he figures was at least 15 years. It has 19,128 ORIGINAL miles. It has rear PTO with front weight. Does not run at this time. I am excited to get into it and start the restoration of my Willys. I am super excited and cannot wait to get her on the road!

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a really nice well preserved jeep. How long has it been in your family? Looking forward to seeing your journey to getting it back on the road.

to many jeeps, parts, and accessories to list here, but apparently enough to keep me in trouble with my wife.

Now that's a barn find!
Thanks for sharing the great pictures.
Looking forward to following your progress.

Was the sickle mower that's in front of the jeep in one picture for that jeep?

It is very solid, floorboards and underbody are amazing to have been in a barn for what he thinks is 15-18 years. I want to hear more of the Jeep's story from him. It has been in the family for quite a while. He said he will be able to know exactly how long when he gets the title out of his filing cabinet. The sickle is for an old New Holland tractor he has. One of the funny stories he told me was that he let his 8 year old grandson (my wife's cousin) drive this jeep down the driveway and he managed to get it in third gear after he jumped the curb up onto the 2 lane highway. He said he yelled to stop but then once he noticed the grin on his face he let him drive further down the road before turning around. He said he had it wide open. He also said that someone in town used to mow the yard at the elementary school and the library with a CJ-2A about ten years ago. I will let you know more of the story behind this Jeep as I find out.

Wash the dirt off, get it running and don't restore it.....its a time warp.

Great to see a survivor...

Adrian, my dad and I both have said that we just need to wash it and make it run great again. I think it is gorgeous as it sits.

Yee haa, if you want to see ones that's very ugly look at 14605 on "your Jeep project", I'd much prefer it, if it looked like your one.

I'm slowly putting the odd little scratch and dent in it, another 71 years and it will be perfect

What a great find!

Wow! Congratulations. And thĂ nks for sharing this story. It's gives us support for hope that we may also find something like that, so we keep "rubber necking" as we drive around!Wink

It looks to me like you might have more then just the rear pto. That looks like at least the bottom of a three point hitch. Nice inheritance.

Congrats on your very sweet inheritance. That is a piece of CJ2A history. As Adrian said, Wash it good and get it running & stopping and enjoy it as is. It appears that you have a NEWGREN 3 point lift on the rear. Ask your grandfather in-law if he might just have some neat attachments for that jewel to boot! Keep it all together and enjoy.
A family inheritance like this is a real treasure and I hope you have a ball with it.

Thanks everyone. It does have the 3 point hitch. I am interested in getting some more history as well as what other parts he has for it.

Very nice find. Learn all you can about it's history and write it down for your children or whomever.
