I finally have time to submit the following info regarding #69376. During my current refresh, I discovered that my '46 was originally Picket Gray with Harvard Red wheels.
When I first purchased the jeep back in late '04, it appeared to be closer to Pasture Green than anything else, based on the exposed color. However, after taking a multitude of parts off the jeep for a repaint or reconditioning it became clear what the true color was. The current OD paint was applied by a former Marine Corps officer over 30 years ago (2 owners ago) and is the only coat of paint covering the original color. My assumption based on all research, is that my '46 was produced late October-early November. It would appear that it has the lowest serial number of any previous '46 painted Picket Gray to date. Hopefully, the original part and faded area may help someone else identify their color combo. Tim Below are some photos: Firewall area behind air cleaner, notice how the light the paint color is. Trailer socket cover removed, revealing original Picket Gray. Trailer socket cover itself, photographed next to 1946 PPG Willys color chart. Photo taken with Canon 5d Mark lll with manual white balance using Expodisc 82mm and natural light. Harvard Red painted original wheels. Discovered after cleaning backside of wheels with high pressure water. Sorry I didn't take the wheel off for the photo, it was at the end of a long day. |

Hey Phil, SD County has a few classic jeeps around. I'm down here in the South Bay and am going to connect with Jerry (IronAge52) after this holiday season is over.
Happy New Year to you as well. I'll get in touch with you as well. Tim

Only chiming in to agree with your date estimate... I have 69750, and using serial numbers in service bulletins above and below came up with around halloween... Mike |

Thanks Mike. Heck, they could have rolled off the line the same day or damned close to it. Very cool.

I agree. These are my "real" paint chips. If I ever get around to painting I think I would actually go with 2011 Jeep Sahara Tan and 2012 Jeep Orange Crush. Maybe leave a little of the "historical" color in some of the lesser seen parts of the vehicle.
