I'm working on trying to fix an oil pan leak on my CJ-2a. After dropping the oil pan I noticed the there were no neoprene plugs in the holes in the rear main bearing cap. Is that normal if you have a rope style seal or should something be there? Thanks.

It's not normal.  You should have the rubber plugs too, regardless of rope or rubber crank seal.

The rear seal was hashed out on the G503 forum a few years ago.  Here's the thread:  http://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=219390
