I love my headlights. I think they are sylvania 5000 something. Mine are bright enough for 30 or 40 mph. They are 12v.

My original 6v lights were terrible and very dim so i wasnt too concerned with the new ones and figured they couldnt be any worse. i ordered 6v mb lights from a place called army jeep parts and they are actually much brighter than the larger originals. they have motorcycle embossed on them and i suspect they are halogen. for twice the money i could have gotten "correct" corcoran brown headlights, but my jeep isnt an mb so what would be the point? motorcycle lights worked out fine and are bright enough to drive at night.

I have KC driving lights on mine.

not sure if I ever posted a pic of the body swap...my 2a came with an armor plated rusted out tup...literally, a guy wrapped 1/8 inch steel plating around the tub...welded it to the tub...it took the tripod to lift it off...550 lbs...as per the junk pile scale

Here is my clone, a couple years ago.  The tarp top has been replaced by a canvas top but it worked really well when I needed it.

My cousin in NC finished his clone just last month. It was first restored in CT and painted copper. It is an original MB body on a 1948 CJ-2A frame, engine and running gear.

He didn't make it the clone, he just made the clone better by making it more military. Correct tires and wheels, MB hood, Bows, blackout light MB seats, etc. It ran great and had very good bones. He kept the CJ Windshield, but might be willing to swap with someone who needs a CJ style for an MB windshield. He also swapped the hood out so he's got a nice spare hood.

It looks great and the part of the project that was really killing him was removing the interior Rhino Liner!!! He said it was the toughest part and sometimes pretty discouraging! Horrible, he said!

Night shot I took last August when I brought it home prior to shipping it to NC.

January 2017, My cousin's first vehicle project!

Chipping away!

Months later, done!

Here's an updated from the original thread poster, Hugh Hedrick. His Jeep is still romping through the trails of southern Illinois. It's a 1947 CJ2A with a fiberglass body.

Since his last post, the Jeep has new Beachwood Canvas seat cushions and more mud.

I wish I had my old MB. it wasn't really period correct later as I put in a V6 in it and a Dana 41 in the rear. OK, I had to swap out the transmission and transfer case too.
I still look for it on the forums.
I don't know if I loved the Jeep more than being out in the fields with my Black Lab?
Dogs and kids seem to go together.
