Found this through the same guy that I got my '46 column shift from. Looks to be a CJ5, but I wonder if the trencher is a Jeep thing or a cobbled together home-build. Also has dual rear wheels:

 I bet!!!LOL How about $25?

I think I am going to have a look, and most likely drag it home. It can be had and reasonably, so I can't just let it sit there any longer.

It does look like it may be missing a few of the guards from the sides, but the owner claims it was running about 4 years ago. Judging from the tree in the front bumper, I'd say his memory is a bit fuzzy.

Its going to get saved. And I will keep it as a trencher for sure. I like the idea of not restoring it and keeping it as-is, and that very well may happen, as I have a ton of other projects happening anyway.

I figure at the very least, get it running, moving under its own power and then under cover so it doesn't deteriorate any further.

Has a dana 70 in the rear with 5:38's looks like a Meyers half cab as well.
Looks like a early '68, dash is laid out like the '70 dash but no marker lights on the front fenders.  Probably has a duel res. master cylinder as well which places it in '68-71

I found one that could be its twin about ten years ago. Mine seems to have led a bit easier life and the mileage on it is pretty low as I suspect many of them are. In my case the one I got is a 1964 model if I am remembering correctly. It is neat and very well made.... much heavier built than the earlier Auburn units.

In my case, I don't think it is a piece I'm going to end up keeping. Just have to draw the line somewhere and look at what I can handle etc. I was contemplating taking the trencher part of and having a super low mileage CJ-5 to enjoy, but I really don't know if I can bring myself to do that as these things are really that super rare.  I've enjoyed having one and I know that someone else likely will have as much, and even MORE, fun with owning it....

I should be able to help with some photocopies of literature and parts lists etc.

Good luck!
