can anyone tell me what is the tallest 15'' tire I can get? I will be using steel rims that are about 8'' wide. any pictures would help. I think a tall 15'' would still have a good stock look.

thanks for any help

Probably not, unless you aren't real definitive about what a "stock look" is.

34 or 35 inch tires on an 8 inch wheel is going to kind of stand out. Wink

I wasn't going to, but since Chad started it....
In my un-asked for opinion, unless your jeep is named Bam Bam, no wheel over 5 inches wide looks "stock."
I'm not saying they don't look good, just not stock.
No help here with your original question. Sorry

A 7.50 x 15 NDT on a 5 or 6 inch rim would be as close to 'faking it' as you will do for a (sort of) stock look.

BFG makes a 33x10.50 tire. Swampers come 32 and 34x9.50 too.

just a couple thoughts.

But agreed.....not much stock about any of those options.

Those Swampers in my avatar picture are 34's on 7inch wheels....not what I would put in the stock looks category.

FYI, 750-16 NDT on 4.5" wide wheels could be considered "original" by some g503 guys as it was an option in WWII:

I don't know the part number but there was an OEM spacer for the spare tire carrier as shown in the thread.

I think that's about right.
The wheelhouse opening measures 31" diameter but the inside sheet metal will allow another inch foreward.
Rear of  wheelhouse has a bit more space to allow tire clearance for the shackle to swing backward under full leaf spring compression.

Not to open a can of worms but what does a WWII military tire have to do with a civilian tire? Other then dimension.

I would guess because most would say the 'looks' of an NDT regardless of size translates to what many see as a 'stock look' on a flat fender whether it is a civilian or WW II Jeep.

Well... because the post is about dimensions and stock look.

Stock civilian CJ2A's had WWII military tires.

Back in my tire shop days we would not mount 750x16s on a 4.5" wheel. 650 x 16 was pushing the limit for those wheels.

thanks for all the reply's. what I am looking for in a stock look is just nothing fancy the jeep is not stock. 225 engine t15 trans 1" lift springs 1/2"lift shackles and Saginaw steering 11" brakes so far.. I have some other wheels but they are spokes and are to shiny. my jeep will be flat in color with no shine or chrome. I think the wheels I have come from a earlier ford truck. they are also offset more and will bring the tires out to the edge of the fenders. I like that look and in my way of seeing it still has a stock look. I am mostly interested in keeping the tire diameter as close to stock so not to change gearing speedometer or anything else it mite affect.

thanks as always.

Confused Hmmmmm.....I'm confused, in your original post you were asking what the "tallest" tire you could use was.
