Is it just me, or it is the rear seat non-standard too? Look at the seat back - you can see the tailgate through it. In fact, it looks like if you folded the seat back forward over the base, the base would fit nicely into the gap on the back, making for a very low-profile folded seat.

There were two OEM rear seats for CJ-2As.  The early ones had a very short seat back cushion as pictured.   See the Special Equipment and Accessories section of the Parts List.  Be sure and select 1st and 2nd editions so you see both seats listed.

It looks like the fold and tumble back seats that M38's have.

I think this is my favorite M38 photo.  I will be stripping the hood on my my jeep shortly looking for the original hood numbers.  For all I know, that could be Sparky being pushed out.  Airborne!!

I saw what remained of an M151 at our motor pool after being heavy dropped out of a C-130 and the chute didn't deploy. The only parts usable that I saw were the tires. If memory serves me "Top" didn't get to ride for a while, he got to walk like the rest of us.
I look forward to seeing my fathers again to ask all the questions I should have asked before.

I can't get the link to open.

Was it this one?

Look close. They're not whitewall tires, but white wheel trim rings. It's a long time since I've seen any of those.   BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

I don't want to go too far off topic but there seems to be a lot of ruble still laying about. I've read that post war Germany was a hard place to live. I guess they still didn't have the mess cleaned up. Past that, cool picture.

Wow. That's a lot of trailer for a little JEEP.

Europe was generally destroyed during the war, I believe. Can't imagine the task of cleaning all that up and rebuilding the ruins. Not mention the possible dangers of unexploded ordinance mixed into the rubble.

I remember reading not to long ago that it was not till the early 1980's that parts of Germany had fully recovered from that war.
