Original Fuel Gauge Resistance

Does anyone know what the proper resistance is for an original working fuel gauge? I have two original gauges and they measure 26 & 32 ohms. This is about 100 - 150 ohms less than new replacement gauges. I suspect the coils on the original gauges may be damaged...possibly 12V usage....

Also, will the replacement fuel tank sending units (sold thru Walck's) work w/ an original fuel gauge?
