I completely re-did by tranny with a rebuild kit from Walck, replaced the mainshaft and necessary gears and bearings. I bought the videotape (can't remember the name of the guy who sells them - it's excellent!) and followed it very carefully. The gear which slides to complete the shift from 2 to 3 moves easily and completely from end as it should. I rebuilt my shift tower and replaced the ball bearings and coil springs in the detents, and they seem to lock tightly in place. I have tried a second rebuilt shift tower, and it also pops out of gear with that unit. The tranny is quiet and perfectly functional except for this problem. What should I be checking?
