Pete, Oil has came a long way in 50 pluss years and unless your plowing fields all day and their is something than more than normal I don't see a problem with multi-weight oil,. I heard that the 5-40w had some problems with GM vehicles, as the oil broke down in the 20 to30w range but that was in the 80's. If your motor is strong, no problem with it, go for it. I would take more concern about oxygenated gas, in this part of farm country it is almost hard to find without the ethanol?
