I had one original steel pan and cut the other from 3/4" plywood (1/2" would work but I had scrap 3/4). I used 4" high density (blue) foam for the bottoms. The seat backs are 18" wide and 19" tall. On my (original?) seat, at the bottom, there was a piece of wood with the backside curved to fit the seat's contour. I made a second for the other seat out of 1x2 stock. At the middle of the seat it is 1 1/2" wide. That piece was held by two screws coming in from the back of the frame through the bottom tube brace. It provides a spot to staple the bottom of the seat cover to. I used 3" high density (blue) foam for the seat backs. I also did covers for a rear seat so I purchased 4 yards of marine vinyl. It is UV protected and I figure it should handle getting wet if it's for boats. 4 yards was overkill-I had enough left over to make a spare tire cover, so I can't tell you how much material to buy-only how much not to buy : ) I'm quite pleased with the comfort of the seats while driving. If you'd like I could email you some photos. Bret
