i also have a single wire gm alternator. i use a coil with an internal resistor (it is marked on the side of the coil) it works great and has not been a problem. I purchased it at NAPA. I do not have any other resistors in the Jeep. good luck, it is an easy conversion and an easy fix to either go to an external resistor or an internal one in the coil.
