The Old CJ2A Page Message Archive

Please see Questions and Answers for some topics that frequently appear on this board. As you can see, this board loads rather slowly. If you are posting something for sale, please remember to include your location since someone who might otherwise be interested might not be able to use a part or a vehicle that is too far away. Posting your location when you're selling something that needs to be hauled will save everyone's time (and reduce the number of posts on this already too-slow message board). Thanks.

Jray,
You probably have numbers, and part of the fun is playing detective and finding them.
The frame number is on a little brass or zinc tag riveted to the frontmost extension of the frame, on the driver's side, tucked up under the frame horns that the bumper is attached to.
You probably won't be able to find the body number until you have removed the body from the frame. The body number, which matches the frame number, is stamped into one of the steel gussets (whether left or right, I cannot remember). The gussets are the front, body to frame attachments. The frame number, and body number both match the number on your firewall data plate. Should you purchase an aftermarket firewall data plate you can have this number engraved and restored to its proper location on your firewall.
The engine number is located on the engine block on the milled, horizontal surface right above the water pump.
Have fun, Sherlock.
Ken
