Heck of a lot better running than the rebuilt Carter! I just went to the hardware store and was able to get a fitting that reduced it to the size needed. I used some teflone tape on the threads to be sure no leak. As far as the adjustment goes, I did't have that problem. I put it on and it ran pretty good right from the start. Only had to tweak the mixture screw a little. Did you remove the old thick gasket with the metal vortex "V" in it? The instructions I had said only use the new thin gasket by it's self. Try these things and see what happens. If still a problem maybe you got a bad one. One more thing, have you taken the PCV out and soaked it well in carb cleaner to be sure it's not clogged. Mine was, real bad. Make sure the tubing is also clean. Good luck.
