MPG's how far can I go

Have been driving my freshly restored 2A alot lately but was wondering how far I should be able to go on a tank of gas. It seems that even after a short run 15 miles or so the consumption seems excessive. The jeep starts, idles and runs along fine at about 45 with max speed of about 53 mph. Maybe I should install a jerry can just incase.
