They make a big difference if your mileage by cutting down the rolling resistance of the front drive train. I've aquired a second set of drive flanges and drilled out the splines in them. Once installed they continue to give the original look of the axle without going to locking hubs, except that you now have 2 wheel drive until the splined hubs are put back on. Gives a pretty good increase in mileage as well as way better turn characteristics.
