When you say worn out, do you mean the hangers or the bushing. The bushings 'in' the hangers can be replaced. And the stock type (C shaped) shackles are still available.

If I interpret your second question to mean you just want to build some shackles out of flat stock, yes, that can be done too. The aftermarket sells all different types of heavy duty shackles if you want to do away with the stock type setup.

If that is the case, Rancho Suspensions, makes a nice affordable kit that comes with polyurethane bushings, shackles, and bolts.....everything you need.

The biggest job is removal of the old ones and slightly reamming out the brackets (actually just removing threads as the old bushings are threaded in)....pick up a workshop manual.....it's not a bad job (easiest if you have access to a torch)
