I think the degree of toughness depends largely upon the condition of the piece (sprung, corroded etc..) and whether the current glass is set in silicone or other adhesive.
I did this several months ago and these were my issues. Getting the glass fragments and silicone out of the track was a pain.
Other than that, basically just take the glass frame loose from the main frame (by rotating out to horizontal and sliding out the drivers side) and then unbutton the bolts along the top. There you have it! Good luck!
