: I had similar problems with 'new' aftermarket exhaust pipes. Like so many other 'new' parts I bought during restoration, the pipes were manufactured to the wrong dimensions / tolerances / shapes and therefore, in my view, qualify as nothing more than junk. Check for clearance above the axle as well as this tends to be another place they are 'off'. I agree. I cut off the front curved part of the exhaust as it was in good shape and had my local exhaust shop make up an exhaust from pictures I had supplied to them from the maintenance manual. They did a very good job and it looks very stock. The only relatively expensive part was the muffler.
