: I posted a message a little while back regarding tow dollies v. flat tow, and got some great pointers, thanks. I've now purchased a tow bar to flat-tow my Willys behind the Cherokee, and have two questions:
: 1. After removing/disconnecting the driveshafts front and back (I don't have free-wheeling hubs), what other preparation needs to be made? Steering wheel tie down? transfer case position? etc.
: 2. What speeds are safe? I had some death wobble which was corrected with a new steering stabilizer, but will this come back at speeds higher than normal Willys speed of 45mph?
: Any pointers are helpful, thanks in advance.

** I have flat towed my CJ3B up to 70 but usually keep it around 65. I do not tie the steering wheel since the wheels need to track behind the towing vehicle plus I have free wheeling hubs and my tires are new. I do not disconnect the driveshaft. I put both transfer case and tranny in neutral, unlock the hubs and go. Before I take off, I always check fluids, top off t-case and trans with oil and put fresh grease in the rear bearings (I have the fittings on my axle). I have gone well over a thousand miles doing this and not had any trouble. Maybe I'm just lucky but I can't see why you would cause damage if everything is kept well lubed. **
