The early canvas did not have that shiny rubber look to it. It was regular canvas duck. On the later slate gray tops it was less "canvassy" but was never that shiny.

Depending on the serial number, it could be. The hardest parts to find are the top irons. You have them. The only other hard part to find is the early lower door sockets. Most people chucked them when the canvas rotted out because you would hit it getting in and out of the jeep. You can still get the later NOS ones from time to time because the M38 used a similar socket.
