I was in southern NY earlier today on a mission to pick up some parts, drop off some parts and visit a childhood friend. My childhood friend was fortunate enough to take possession of a pretty complete 1945 CJ2A ( SN 10536 ). I checked out as much as I could to see of how original his Jewel was. All tags read SN 10536 and the ACM # appears to be 505 on both the tail gate and fire wall gusset. The trans is stamped 45 and the correct full floating rear is in place. The engine appears to be (# J101325A) so I guess a 47 replacement engine was installed at some point. The original paint color is Harvest tan with correct sunset red wheels w/ black pin stripes. The puzzling thing about the 5 wheels that look to be original is that they are Motor wheels rather than the solid disc Kelsey Hayes wheels that were most common on the 45s. I suggested that he dismount the tires and check the date stamps inside if they could be found. Could these Motor wheels have been correct in 1945?

Yes. Half of my 1945 CJ-2A's (11802) rims were Motor Wheels and the other half solid. I found a good original painted set of all solids and sold the others.

Thanks for the feedback Guys. That's good news.
I guess all we need to do is be on the lookout for a period correct 134 for his 45 that is close to his numbers and he will be all set. Now that should be easy, right!!!! LOL

I sure wish I could talk him out of it! I would love to join the masters of the universe that own 45s.

The other 45 2A I had was equipped with all Motor Wheel rims.
Think it was 11590

This is great new to all of us who thought we at some stage needed to find solid rims, 14605 is motor wheel type rims and I had no reason to think they were not original.

#10578 probably built in the same week as your friends, had these original wheels on it:
Sandblasted inner showing Motor Wheel

Outer color showing the sunset red paint.
