F Bill from what I seen the frame look great I did not see any cracks a round the front horn area but will know more when I get it striped down. You say the tail light is after market? its say NACO STANDARD on it and I notice the blue engine and the head does not have the same casting (WILLYS) on top like my other 46? What can you tell me about that. I will have to run over to the parts section and do some home work. mike

I knew you had it in you. I gave up on pics myself too much to go thru. Looks like you have some work ahead of you. I am sure that it will look good after you run thru it.
Water is just a set back for a while I had a lot in my engine when I bought it

Yes good score . Looks like you have the most important part of the tail light. The lense and bezel are easy to come by.

Too bad about those studs...A couple heat cycles with an acetylene torch may have saved them, and melted the electricals.. The Naco lights were also used on Jeepsters, and for every good light out there you'll find ten rotted ones. Fortunately for you the glass lens and the rims do not rot so much,so they are out there. On Ebay search for jeepster taillight and you might find a few. Probably a few guys here have spare lenses and rims , I have some but haven't solidified my plans for them yet.
Replacement NACO lights are also around with a different bulb socket and horizontal studs. I havent seen the parts for the repops available separately but it wouldn't hurt to ask..

They pop up on eBay all the time since the vertical stud and horizontal stud tail lights have the same lens and bezel. |

All original w/ "matching" engine, nice score Mike!
Absolutely, REAL nice find! They rarely survive at all. Original plug too! R&R the studs (originals are swaged in place), find carriage bolts with the same size square head & braze/glue in place. The license lens is not correct (plastic, for a later, different tail light housing), but the correct glass lenses aren't too hard to find. Sean

Thanks Sean I already nocked out those studs and had that same idea. I have a question on the head as it does not have WILLYS on it. It does have jeep on it and I can't see the casting number as I think it is under the filter bracket. here is a pic.

I removed the head today so here is a couple of more good pictures of it. The casting Number is 807763. O.K. I did some research and believe this is Industrial head or a replacement head and it is the lowest compression ratio head ( bummer) Now I need to figure if the engine is a industrial or the stock engine? It is painted Blue but that doesn't really prove anything.

Here is this weekends progress. I pulled the head as mentioned a the engine does not look to bad a first glance. It looks like maybe cylinder three got the water which I think would be from water dripping of the cowl in to the spark-plug recession then through the plug Threads?? i will get it out and on the stand and tear it down soon.

I removed the engine this weekend and found a mouse or rat nest in the bellhousing. This made it retain moisture which rusted everything including the input shaft to the clutch plate. That made it a little challenging to get them apart but I did WIN that battle. The engine casting number is 63862 W3 A-NI-CR-N2. Here are some pictures of my fun.
