My name is André and I live in Brazil. Eu falo somente português. I bought a CJ2-A 1947, last week, with original engine. It's my first Willys. I can not find the engine number. In the correct location (on the engine, on the front) it seems that the number does not exist, even removing all the paint. There is another place where the number appears? Me already commented that the frame number is the same of engine. It`s  correct?

I appreciate your help.

Andre

Welcome. both my engines have the serial number stamped on top of the block just in front of the head. basically it is the same surface that the head mounts to. So if your block has been decked (machined) that number could be gone. There still should be casting numbers on the side of the block that will at least give you the era of the engine.

Thank you Mike.

I need the number of the engine to make the documentation of the vehicle in my name. Without the number will have trouble making the documentation. It will be difficult to resolve this.

Andre. Bienvenido.

OK its been about 2 years since I posted on this project but I have done some work on it lately. I striped down the frame, both diffs and had them all sandblasted.I replaced the battery tray with a new(repo) and boxed the front frame horns. I had to replace both rear threaded spring hanger and repair the rear cross member. This weekend I put about 3 coats of Zero rust on the frame, front bumper, transmission cross member and the draw bar. I then installed those on the frame and then sprayed the frame with about 3 coats of Rustoleum Gloss Black. I am very happy with the way it turned out. Next I will rebuild both diffs, the springs and get them install so I can have a rolling chaise again. Here are a few picture for your enjoyment.

Its been a year since I posted on this build but I have been doing some work on it I promise. I have both differentials installed with all new brakes, lines and the shocks on. I have the transmission/ transfer case done but not installed yet. Next I will get the steering done, get rims blasted and painted and then buy the tires so I will have a rolling chassis.  Here are some more pictures as it sits today.

Thanks Andy. Its easy to be patience when you have another jeep that you can drive even though it took 8 years to do that one. Probably the funds are what keeps me patience.  A little at a time.

I hate borrowing money, lol, so most of my projects progress at the rate at which I can afford them...  Some day I hope to complete one LOL

Well I got a little more done. I rebuilt the steering box and all the rest of the steering system as needed. I got the wheels striped by a Pro and the tires mounted. So now I have a rolling chassis. Here are a couple Pictures.

Hello all, I have not post on this build for a while (OK over two years) But I have been working on it I promise. I did the engine swap from my other jeep as I rebuilt its engine so I was able to get this jeeps engine back out of it and put in this jeep. The transmission and transfer case were all rebuilt and now its all put together and I can actually start the engine and run it. Now on to the body work.

It does look good. As far as the rate of progress goes, I’ve working on getting my Ross box rebuilt for over a month now. Still haven’t got the fender off. It’s not a money problem. Ive had all the parts for months now. My problem is I can still drive (or herd) it. Gonna need to get responsible.
