Curious...  Anyone else have an AMC Jeep?  Bought one new in '75 and sold years later.  Picked up one ~5 years ago - same year, color etc.
Have heard the '71 to '75 as "lost years" as many of the parts are no longer available.  From '76 on, no problem.
Anyone else have an orphan Jeep?

I have an 85, so it's not in the orphan class but it is an AMC.

I have a '74 rear axle in my '2A  . . .   It came out of at totally rusted-out, trashed CJ-5,  so hopefully I have not contributed to making that age group into orphans. Embarrassed   I used to have the front axle from same Jeep in Wilson,   but recently swapped that out for a '81 with disc brakes  (AMC)

Come to think of it . . the Dana300 is also AMC . .   so a large percentage of the drivetrain in Wilson is AMC

My sons both have mid-80's CJ-7s  (AMC)

Although I no longer own this, my '75 Renegade with the 304  is what started my love for Jeeps. Bought it back in '77 before the big blizzard. WOW- such memories!

I prefer to use a few specific AMC Jeep Parts from the 1972-1975 intermediate era when I build flatties.

The AMC Jeep 11" Bendix drum  brakes.
The Dana 30 front axle assemblies
The centered flanged D44 rear axle assemblies
Parts from the Dana 20's
And parts from the Borg Warner T18's
Currently building my final F-134 powered 3B .
T98-A Rock Crawler using factory parts from the Willys Motors era (1953-1963)

Even though I feel like my jeep life started in 2008, I did own this '81 CJ7 for about 6 months:

This picture was taken in '83. I dressed better back then

The guy behind me in the back seat is my cousin Chris who came with me on the Rubicon this year.

... Notice the white lettered tires. That was the thing back then.

Looking at his remanufacturer of the heater control panel.  Maybe Santa will bring one.

I used to have a '75 CJ5 (but with a '76 windshield frame and top).  It was my second project vehicle but my first 'wheeling project.  I replaced it with my early Bronco when my kids outgrew the back seat.
