I had a lot of fun at Weare both times I went. First time I was there I was a jeep Newbie and i was treated like royalty.. I think they all hoped I'd sell my rust free Arizona GPW to them. Ren Bernier was there, giving out free Moxies to anyone who could stand it...He's the guy that wrote the excellent WWII jeep guidebook, and has a website full of great tech info for any jeep owner. They had a group mess tent, onsite camping was going on, and it just seemed like everyone was into enjoying driving and using their jeeps. If you approach them with the intent of having a small CJ get together as part of their show I bet they'd welcome it. It would be worth investigating for sure. The main attraction of the show is MILITARY vehicles. but you know how close a CJ fits into that arena.
The Weare show is one of the few things from the Northeast I really miss.

Just saw this, i have wanted to join or get some type of willys club going for a while, I had set up a group on Facebook, called the New England Flat Fender club a while ago trying to gather some interest, i even put an add on craigslist. i have not got many replies
I'll just throw out my vision of a club for discussion sake, I have been involved with organized wheeling for about 20 years now with a couple different clubs, neither that i am still a member of today. I served on the eboard of both clubs over the years. Where i became frustrated with these clubs is the bureaucracy, way too many rules, too many bylaws, too much "Roberts rules of order" I understand the need these, but in a social club of 40 people it always seemed to get out of hand, and frustrating. I always thought a group of like minded wheelers could put together a basic set of guidelines that covered everything important, like, family friendly, thread lightly, no alcohol on trails, treat each other with respect ETC, basically a one page document that governed the group, not 10 pages of bylaws. And a group for 3-5 people that made the decisions based on the consensus of the group, not a huge eboard, Having eboards of 10-12 people always made no sense to me for a jeep club. I see a club as one more way to have fun with my jeep, it should not be work! |

It should be kept really simple. The problem is it never stays simple.

Very true. Informal trail rides like the one scheduled for june 15th would keep it fun and be no pressure for anyone.

I'm in. The Northeast has been the hub for stirring up trouble for centuries. If only we had some red land rovers we could battle against, and send them back from where once they came.

Nate, how did you ever make out with this. We could start our own, seeing as we live a few miles apart.
