I have a huge mound of old jeep parts that I'd like out of my yard. I mostly just want the space back. What's the best way to get rid of it about 2-3 pallets size of pile mostly random small parts like brake backing plates tranny cases for t90 think there's a rear axle there minus spider gears. Was thinking of charging like $90 bucks for the pile just to keep profit out of the deal for a scrapper. I'd rather not see these parts get scrapped. From projects ive done like my 48 cj2a and 59 cj5

there's probably a lot of value for someone who wants to take the time and put them on eBay or something

Funny, as of just this afternoon I find myself in need of a dana 41 gear set. How is the one in the scrap pile? Rusty, good teeth, chips, etc?

I would call Richard Darr in Washougal since he is actively restoring Jeeps and has quite a pile of parts. You can find Washougal Classic Jeeps on line.

Jeep parts are like feral cats. I just seem to collect them. Tomorrow Bruce W is going to haul off a load and I hope he found his friends to help load stuff.

If I remember the ring and pinion are from a 10 spline 44 but I think the ring and pinion were in great shape. I needed spider gears so I stole those from it. Best I can remember without opening it

so would the axle assembly be a 10 spline 44? How closely would this bolt up in place of the D41? Is it the offset model?
How complete is it? If this is an easy swap, I might be able to pick up the whole lot from you, I'd just need to figure out storage.

44 should be offset and doesn't have brakes on it but they're are several brake sets in the pile. Shoujld bolt right up I think. Early cj2a had Dana 41 later had Dana 44 so It should be drop in and made for it

would your pile of parts fit in a five foot short box Dakota, or would we need a trailer?

I'll check them out too. You can never have too many options for locating parts!

Les Berg, If you need a Dana 41 Gearset, I have one on hand (I think) that has your name on it.

Bob, what's your price? It's a 5.38, I assume? Shipping would be to the 83801 zip code. The local yard's Willys trucks all have 44s.
I'm thinking to get the 41 rolling again, then pick up the above mentioned parts pile and build a full float, 30 spline 44 as I can afford parts. I'd love to have a pair of Eaton TrueTracks in this thing. The Eaton unit may not perform to the standards of lockers on extreme terrain, but they're excellent on snow and ice, and this beast will see far more of that than trail time. The Eaton TrueTrack is a torsen-style differential, like what come standard in a military humvee. There's a trick to making them act like a locker - give it about a half pedal of brake and it forces all the tires to turn under power. It's more difficult with a manual trans, but it can be done.
