All gassed, greased and new battery, ready for nasty storm tomorrow. 18"+/- of heavy wet snow, astronomical high tide with up to hurricane force winds and 12" of ice in the harbors. Not a nice beach day, not uncommon to lose some high end waterfront houses into the ocean with a storm like this. Power outages and coldest weather of the year so far is not a good combination. We usually get 2 or 3 of these a year, they are even predicting thunder snow.

I always liked the sound of Thunder Snow....

Could be a great band name.

No heater, I usually wait until it's over. I'll be 60 in a week and I've only seen thunder snow twice, has to be pretty wild weather out here for that.

The weather can get really weird around here,  1/2 hour N or W will get lite fluffy snow, 1/2 hour S or E will get more rain while we get 3" of slush that freezes then more snow on top. Cape Cod sticks out into the ocean and benefits from the warmer water, further inland will usually get less wind and moisture but colder. It's usually a " I'll look out the window and tell you what happened tomorrow " situation though.

My storm prep will consist of plugging in the block heater on the deere on my way out to go to work in the morning... it's gonna be what it's gonna be.

I really stopped paying all that much attention to forecasts when Don Kent retired, lol.

Don Kent was around for ever, if you took his forecast and did a 180° he was dead on.

Do you have something like a propane lantern? I got to thinking about it last winter when a couple of friends lost power so no furnaces. I dug around and got out one of my lanterns so I had light and heat. I tried it one night, It works.
