As we all have now learned...and Jeff has so thoughtfully demostrated...these jeeps don't really like trees!   I think the General went a little psycho! Just took off down the hill and then went I came up on him...he was eating the tree!
For the damage done....the crew did a fantastic job gettin the General trail ready. Once the plan was put into action...that fix was a total of five or six hrs!   Now if you count combined hrs of helpers, watchers, opinion givers, documentarians, curiosity seekers and those just shaking their head.....then it took all of us 97 hrs to help Jeff fix the General!    Great job Jeff!   You're determination was impressive....but your welding skills....not so much!
should be another great day of weather and rides!   Try to post more....later!

If you still need that army helmet just let me know. Glad he didn't get hurt. What was the speed on that to do that kind of damage.

Glad everyone is OK! The general looks to have a pretty good "battlefield" dressing on him for now.

I was just thinking about this some more.  Did the helmet-cam capture any of this skirmish? Big smile

For those who want to know...its hard to judge speed when you're airborne...sideways...into a banked turn!  But, I was behind the General between 28-32...it was kinda bouncy!

No helmet cam on that one.Cry

It wasn't GW's fault.  He was just doing what he was told.  Added some reinforcement today.  It won't break.

Edit:  I'll add some names tonight.  It takes a while to get all these pics up.

Hey jeepers.  Help me out with some of your pics.

So the short version is that you ordered the general to head for the tree with all due haste, and he did?

In one of the pictures, it looked like the general was straddling a short wall of some sort.  What was that scene all about?

Jeeezzz Jeff!!  Take it easy on my trees!!

I hope you didn't get hurt with that sudden stop.  Glad you were able to get the General back on track and back out into the woods.  Ellen hinted that you might have had an OOOOPS!!

It looks like you all are having a good time there.  I'm enjoying making new friends here.  With all the Lotus and Porche and other fancy cars here, it's still amazing how much attention the Electro-Willys is getting.  I even got to drag race against a Tesla Roadster today on the quarter mile track.  I thought I did good to average 45 mph against a car that topped out at 100.1 mph!  I got to ride in that same car later on.  MAN!! what a ride!! Shocked A few guys here asked me to take them for a ride in the E-W so we found a ditch with a "little water" in it to go play in.  Now I've got to do some cleaning to do before we go on parade tomorrow afternoon.  Big smile

Hope you all continue to enjoy the rides.  How are the maps and guides working out?

And jeff, please don't hit on any more of my trees!  Please!!

RIP WFB.  I'm sad that I was not there to be a part of this event.  Especially now that I learned that I came in 2nd  place in the EVTV contest.  I'm just feeling kinda low.  I've lost a good friend and I've lost a contest that I worked hard to win over the last 3 months.   And didn't get either one back.  I really wish I was there with all my good jeeping friends right now.  I know you all supported my effort to win, and we all hope that WFB is pleased with where he is now resting.

I 'd like to go out there in the next couple weeks and talk with WFB just to see if he's happy with where his ashes are spread.

I sure wish I wasn't travelling home so far alone.  Guess I coulda stayed home and it would have all been about the same.  I'll think on this setback for a week or two and then figure out what I need to do to push ahead.

good night.  enjoy tomorrow.  i hope to see all of you that i missed this year, next year.
