I got it for $41 including shipping. I've looked at scores of jeeps herE in WNY and the covers are either rusted beyond use or missing. Every jeeps had one but I thinK the survival rate is low.

That's interesting.  Any idea of what it was for? To enhance cooling maybe?

A very original but very rusty column shifter I parted out had the remnants of one on it. It still had some of the horse hair seal stapled to it. I think they look good behind the grille.

they are part of the chaff screen kit, that co-incides (SP?) with PTO usage....

designed to prevent field chaff from coming up under the front of the radiator and poking holes in the radiator, just like the grille screen....

not "rare", but like you mentioned about condition, nice ones are few and far between..

The cover was delivered yesterday.  It was nicer than what I pictured from the seller's description. It was straight & rust-free. It also had the "staples" that hold the radiator seal in place but none of the seal.  It appears that the original color was black. There was much paint & repaint left on it so I'll slowly sand through the top side paint to see if I can determine if it was originally black or body colored. Is there any documantation on the color?

I have been told that all were black and installed by the dealer, although I am not sure that was always the way it happened.
