Hello all,
Looking for some help. Just installed the drive shafts. Upon installing the rear drive shaft I noticed when I tightened up the drive shaft that meets to the companion flange on the e-brake it causes the brake to stick and it is very hard to turn. I checked the brakes and I adjusted them so they are no where near the brake drum and it is still hard to turn. My next guess is that when tightened it creates a side load?

Anyone have any problems with this before?

Maybe your drum is bent and causing the binding when bots are tightened. loosen bolts and check for wobble or mismatch between companion flange and drum

Belleview ol skool winch soon.

Try removing the parking brake and reassembling it with out the brake drum to see if it still binds.    Perhaps the bolts that are holding on the drum are dragging on the case.

Thanks for the insight. Will be looking into it this weekend.

Forgot to mention that when the flange hardware is loose it does spin freely.

Are the shoes new?  too wide?

Another check would be without the shoes inside the drum.

A light layer of paint on the inside of the drum would wear off if rubbing.
