I am going to pull the trigger on a full set of custom springs for my 2a. I may as well make the shackles myself. Its a simple process to make a copy of fairly high end models and the components are readily available. Anything I need to be aware of? I plan to stay at or close to stock length. Thanks.

I would only suggest to use a quality machine steel. This is a wear item. Using just plain old mild steel flat stock will result in wallowed out holes in a short amount of time.
Other than that, pretty easy project. go for it!
