The Jeep world lost another member yesterday.   My father passed away.

I got my "Jeep Fever" from him.   He picked up a '62 CJ5 when I was about 12 years old.  I learned to drive in it,  and would drive it to school on nice weather days,  I felt so cool. haha

One of his later Jeeps was a bright orange,  304 V8, '78 CJ-5.    Dad was born in Durango CO,  and was drawn to that area later in in life,  traveling there every summer for 8 years or so.   He took that '78 on all the trails in the Durango, Ouray, Telluride areas.

That fever spread to both of my sons,  who each have mid-80's, trail-built, CJ-7s  . .  then even to our 2.5 year old granddaughter,  who often asks to go for ride in PaPa's Jeep.

Edit this opening post with a few photos of Dad's Colorado adventures in 1980

Below is Mom with one of the locals camped with.  You can see the "camper" that Dad made.  He would pull that from Ohio to CO for their annual trips.

This photo reminds me of the recent thread that show bulldozer clearing Imogene Pass  (not sure where this however,  it was with some other photos labeled Ophir)

Yes, sorry for your loss. I lost my father in 1993 and I think he liked driving the MB more than either of us boys did.

Ron,
It's a tough thing to go through. I think he lives on through you and other family.

Thanks!  to everyone for the condolences.   Dad lived a good, long life,  but his body wore out.   We are sad to see him go,  but thankful he is no longer in pain.

My plan in this thread,  is to share some photos of his Colorado Jeep experiences, back in the 70's.   I hope to some day see the same thing.

Ron,
Sorry to hear about you dad passing. I got my love of jeeps (and all things mechanical) from my late dad, too. My 2A was his since he bought it new in '47. I love your family pic with the green CJ5, really encapsulates what the 'jeep thing' is all about. This was a blessing from your dad to you and your bros.

I case anyone is wondering . . I am not in that photo.  haha . . not sure why.

Mostly likely, my Mom is taking the photo,  so not visible either.   My two brothers,  several cousins and a couple aunts are in the photo.
