There at least two different fan blades. The blades on the two fans are the same basic shape (stamping), but the blades are formed differently so that the leading edge and trailing edges are reversed. The pitch of the blades on both fans is the same, as is the hub.
The blade on the left is stamped "12377C" and it is my understanding that it comes from an M38A1. The leading edge of this blade is flat and the trailing edge is curved. The blade on the right has no markings; its leading edge is curved and trailing edge is flat. I have no way of measuring CFM but the blade on the right provides greater lift which evident by greater fan noise and improved cooling. (The CJ2A and 3A Parts List shows two "fan assemblies"; #A-447 and #646770 and says they are both interchangeable, but I don't know if it is referring to these two blades or if there is yet a third blade. I have another one similar to the blade on the right with the corner of the trailing edge bent outwards but I am not sure if that wasn't some PO's adjustment to reduce noise.) ...R

M38 and M38A1, see next post, and photo here:
And #646770 is NOT included in the '45-49 Master Parts List, but A-447 still is. Edited by sean - 16 Sep. 2012 at 7:04pm |

Group 14-05 p/n A-447 : Fan Assembly Manufacturer is stated as "Hayes", but there appears to be possiblity of another manufacturer as well: "SC" stamped blades (near trailing edge) - "SC" is claimed to be Schwitzer-Cummins. Most MB & many CJ-2A blades are stamped "SC". From Willys documentation: MB parts lists (SNL G-503, 1943/44/45 editions) all list the fan as:
1945 Willys Salesmans "Fax" book lists the fan as:
There is no mention of "Schwitzer-Cummins" in any of the above vehicle documents. M38 & A1 parts lists (SNL G-740 & 748, 1955/56) list the fan as:
"HI" mfg. code is NOT included any more. Best guess is that both manufacturers supplied fans for MB & CJ-2A. |

Don`t know if it is worth anything but all the NOS fanblades I have found in GPW boxes have been marked SC.
I have no info about WWII Willys MB fan blades marked SC......
