The wife and I want to attend some of the Jeep runs in Colorado next year but have the problem of not being able to bring our very nice 4 season travel trailer and the Jeep at the same time so we came up with this scheme. The flatbed is 7' x 12'. By chance Menards sells a 7' x 12' fabric garage and the project began. We bolted the framework to the side rails of of the trailer and it seems to ride just fine. Once we get to the camp site we unload the Jeep and put the cover on. Inside we use a queen sized air bed on a riser frame after putting down an outdoor rv carpet. We also bring a Clam screen tent for extra enclosed space. we tried it out for a few days last week in the southern Black Hills and it seems to work very well. I still need to tweak a few things on the setup but all in all quite happy.
Linda has christened it the "Jeepsy Wagon"

As a side note the white grub box on the picnic table is the one Linda's dad gave us for a wedding present 40 years ago. Lovingly refinished by Linda last week. Last photo is my bride watching the eclipse Monday in the Oglala Natnl. Grass lands in Nebraska

Great idea and great pictures as well.
I'm sure that the chuck box comes in handy. I had one that I made for camping many years ago but yours has a special meaning!

Keep the glasses and in 7 years I will buy them since the next eclipse will be directly over the Dallas Ft Worth areaThumbs Up

Looks like a slick plan. Train or two haul trucks? Oh, your box for grub in bear country --------may have to go inside the pickup. Your trailer have brakes on the axles? John

The trailer is from PJ Trailers. 3,500 lb axles. The King Canopy garage was on sale at Menards for less than $150.00 so not much invested. I still need to figure out a screen and some vents on the gable ends.

John, brakes on the rear axle. I may add them to the front sometime but they work well for now. The million dollar mile road....that may be another story😱
The grub box is a misnomer as we don't keep food in it but it may still be attractive to the bears. Thanks for the heads up.

Great idea!  Curious... - ever measure the tongue weight with the Jeep loaded?  Is it over 500 lbs?
Thanks

Rick,  I put brakes on the front axle of my 6X16 trailer three years ago. Not a difficult job to do at home. It stops much better.  None of the loads I typically haul stop quickly, CJ5, fire wood, gravel, my son's Cavalier after he hit a deer on Hwy. 450. I have had the M-38 on the trailer once so far.

No clue on the tongue weight but I suspect it could approach that depending on how it is loaded.
My truck has an 8.1 liter (496) engine with Allison transmission and not much droop in the rear when hooked up.

It isn't a canopy frame. The entire shelter (frame and fabric cover) is advertised as a storage garage and is currently on sale at Menards for $141

I did add a front and rear horizontal bar to reinforce the framework. The rear will be used for a mosquito net inner door and the front will be used as part of a storage shelf system when set up at camp.

The closest Menards to me is in KY, they will ship it to GA, that is a great idea and a great price too! $132 after rebate
