    Posted: 27 Oct. 2013 at 8:27pm
Hi All,

I have been asked to make some dual wheel studs:

I'm not making the hub mind you; just the studs.  The example that 3-48s showed me matches this drawing:

Here's the deal.  These will be made from 4150 hex stock.  A set would include 10 pieces, 5 left hand thread and 5 right hand thread.  If I can make 5 sets, i can do them for 16 bucks a piece.  1 set is already spoken for so I need at least 4 more to get in on it.  The price will get cheaper the more sets we do over 5.

I can also have longer or shorter lengths made but they will all have the same 1" long threaded ends as shown in the drawing.

I'm not making any profit.  I'm farming this out to a local shop.  Whether or not the parts are "spot on" to original is up to all y'all to decide.  The only claim i make is that they will be a match to the drawing I posted.  They will all be 8-1/4" OAL unless you specify a custom length.

If anyone is interested, please post up or PM me.  A post would be better so we can work together on this.

Thanks for reading.

Edit:

The material 4150 hex stock comes in a 12' bar for 192 bucks
Cost to have 50 made is $4.20

If any members know where a better deal is on either the material or labor, post up and we can work something out.

Hi Wade,

Better check the length of your studs to make sure they are the same as my drawing.

Whoa, guys...... Jeff, is that $16  a stud or $16 for 5 studs??  or $15 for ten studs?? This set vs apiece thing has me confussssed. Given your material price I would think each stud would be $16. A set of five therefore would be $80, a full one jeep set would be $160.  Right?

I'm interested but broke. Still, knowing machine shop pricing, you are not that expensive for what you are supplying.

Guys. They are $16 each. That's $16 times 10.

Yeah, I wish I could do them cheaper but the material alone is $11.38 each. Again, if any machinist reading this can do it cheaper with the drawing I provided, we can go that route. I'm not making them and I'm not marking them up. This is my cost ..... so who is still in?

I was wondering about that. Yup, count me out. If I had the adaptors I would jump all over them, but that's a lot of money to sit on the shelf.

I'm still in for 5 LEFT hand at $80.00. If it helps I will have 5 RIGHT hand studs extra after I get the lefts made, I would be willing to sell. Am I going to need the duals for Tincup next year?
Thanks, WADE

So far, it looks like 3-48s is in for a set, sonoblast77 for a half set and russnj is in for a set.

Anyone else?
