Yeah it looks so easy on all those TV shows and YouTube channels, just have a crew come and a bunch of sponsors to completely redo it!!!Clap
My wife is back to driving our grand Wagoneer as a daily. I just was researching this weekend the holly sniper conversion. Looks pretty awesome I wanna do it real bad!$$$$Ouch

I should try and get sponsors to rebuild this Jeep for me. LOL
Bring it back to original factory condition, with some slight upgrades. Needs an overdrive transmission so highway driving is not gulping fuel. A five speed manual is what I really wanted before but I think I should keep it automatic. Fuel injection would also be nice, being the factory 401 gravity is pulling my right foot down when driving Big smile
Would need to be done by November 2023 so I could drive it from the Pacific Coast to Toledo Ohio, where this first year 1974 Cherokee was built in 1973.

Sounds like an easy plan, right LOL

Moved the Cherokee so I can rebuild my 2A. The wiring has been removed from the interior and engine bay but with so many other projects this Jeep is neglected, sadly.

The same one.  It i s a great Jeep but needs more work than I can give it unfortunately.

Today also marks exactly one year since I drove it to town and had to get it towed home. Put a new carburetor on it and maybe drove it a handful of times since.

Update to this post.

It has been almost a year and I think the only thing I have done to this AMC Jeep is remove the wiring harness to prepare and add a new one I bought 7 years ago, yet have not had time to work on it. Working full time and then working on the house is leaving me no time to do anything else.

Here is another project I will regretfully never get too, so I will be putting it up for sale. Cry  I hate to let it go but I also really want to drive my '47 again ( on the road, legally) and with all these projects, it is a little overwhelming for me. Time to thin the herd.

Side note. I am going to attempt to create a 1/64th version of my Cherokee. Majorette Jeep that I put Greenlight wheels on it. Need to reverse the tires and add some detail to the rims then to find a red/orange that i can repaint it with.

Wish I had the better tools to time it with. Have an old Sears timing light. It is roughly at 10 degrees Advanced according to the timing mark. Runs okay but I believe it can run so much better. Friday I'll get new plugs, wires cap and rotor. May end up taking it to a guy down the street who has a garage.

Decided to do a compression test since I had all the spark plugs out to get to TDC. All cylinders are between 120-130. I find TDC, balancer lines up with the TDC mark and rotor points to number one spark plug on the cap.

Little update. New Holley is on. Started it up, 1100 rpms. Put it in reverse to move it and it dies. Start up again to warm up, hit the gas pedal and it drops to 700 rpm. Put it in gear again and it wants to die. Decided I should double check the timing since I've had this distributor out before and the old carburetor was horrible.

Have a new carburetor on its way. Trying a Holley 600 cfm, that was one of the choices recommended to me. Never owned one before, thought I'd try it out. Should be a huge improvement over what was on it.
