I had a lot of trouble getting the oil gallery plugs out so I could put in fittings for the oil filter line and the oil pressure gauge line.
I had to cut an extractor to shorten it and grind the end square to take a 1/4” wrench. I was pretty proud of myself for figuring that out but it would have been much easier to install these fittings while the block was in the work bench. I also got the fuel pump and oil filler tube installed this afternoon. So overall a good day.

I had the utmost faith in you Jon. Looks like you got it without even damaging the paint.

I'll second that, lol, but I'm equally impressed with the organization in the background Wink

Clever idea using the hole saw to cut nice multi-ply pads for your rad mount--I gotta remember this. Thanks for sharing!

I’m thinking I’ll make the pads for the body mounts out of the same tire.

Well Jon, for many years now if a tire didn’t have any tread on it or wouldn’t hold air I had no use for it. My thinking has been they only got one job to do. They gotta stay round. When they won’t I figure they’re useless. Guess I’m gonna have to rethink it.

I think I’m just to cheap to buy the proper pads.
Who knows. Maybe these are better.

Don't pick on yourself.  Yours are probably as good as the originals.  Good ole ingenuity fixes lots of things.

You're not cheap, you're frugal.  Plus, look at it as keeping excess tires out of the landfill.  And with holes in 'em, they won't hold water, thus not becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes.  I read somewhere that unmounted tires with water in them are huge mosquito "nests".
