Power to weight ratio is a great thing. I didn't realize those were all wheel drive.

20 years ago I was driving my, at the time, girlfriends fathers 1984-ish S10 pickup. 2.5, 5 speed. I really enjoyed driving it.
I could only imagine how much trouble I would have gotten into if it had been a Cyclone! |

I remember seeing those driving around. I would prefer one of those to the Typhoon, just not as cool as the pickup.
Ford was going to counter that with an SHO Ranger, but that never came to be. Bill

Yeah, I agree, the typhoon was a bit homely...I see ford is going to be offering a raptor in the ranger platform when they bring it back. There is some pretty cool stuff available now, I think one of those duramax powered zr2 Colorado's would be pretty awesome.

The other dream car back then was the '87 GNX. I remember seeing those on the dealer lots with a $38,000 price tag. Huge bucks back then. But with just over 500 built, they could demand it. The regular GNs were pretty cool.

I'd take a 71 Dodge Demon 340 in Plum Crazy with Go-Wing and eggshell black hood. Add in the factory Sure-Grip diff, OD 4-speed 833 manual trans:
They're light, fast, and sexy as HELL. My 74 Dart Sport is similar, but the Demon is what I really want. Edited by LesBerg - 16 Jan. 2018 at 10:24pm |

I can dig that! My pal, who im repowering his 48 cj2a, sold his 68 340 powered dart to fund the original build on that jeep, that thing was a blast!

A friend of mine picked up a Cyclone here in PA It was pristine I think he paid 8500.00. Cool piece to have. I built a 87 S Dime extended cab with a gnarly small block 350 for show and go. Sold it when I was 21 to start playing with jeeps. I feel it was a good move!

Since I already have my jeep, my ultimate dream ride would be a Mercedes Unimog. I first read about these in a 4 Wheeler sometime in the mid 70's. They showed a Unimog in the arctic with super big flotation tires, so it wouldn't adversely affect the tundra below. I'd love an older one, but if I hit the lottery I'd get a brand new one built to roam.

The first time I ever saw a Unimog was in Germany in mid-'75. A couple weeks later in Portsmouth England, I saw my first Range Rover. I'd have loved to have either one of them at that time. Two years earlier, a shipmate in Bremerton managed to buy a '65 Mustang fastback, orange with white interior, 289 , 4-speed, PERFECT shape, for $500.00. Then the jerk got liquored up one night and ran it into a bridge abutment and didn't have the decency to die in the process.

I actually found a turbocharged 4.3L motor from a typhoon or cyclone back when I put the 4.3L in Blueberry, but I did not know if would be the simple and reliable power plant I was after. Now that my wife and I have 4 kiddos (soon to be 5) and I have always liked FCs this is more like my dream ride. I am going to have to try and make it to the Willy’s reunion and see this in person.
