I am not really sure of the casting date I would need to be correct for 10536. The Vehicle production date would likely be around July 26-28 +-, according to the idea of CJ production start date of July 1, 1945 and 30 JEEPs a day w/ 20 work days per mo. If anyone can cast a better light on this please feel free speak up if you really know something!

I would post on G503.com in the CJ Wanted.  Lots of folks on there with MBs and GPWs that have earlier engines.  A 1945 L134 just sold a couple months ago.  Could be worth a shot.

According to All American Wonder, Vol. II, page 188:

160020 was delivered on Nov. 23, 1943

160920 was also delivered on Nov. 23, 1943.  Possibly this 2nd entry is a misread of the 1st, but

164626 was delivered on Pearl Harbor Day 1943

So 160300 was most likely a Nov. 1943 GPW.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

I have checked and it seems the earliest motor I have is a GPW160300 and looks like it might be 43.
next as a spare is J44988  and then oldest 46 is J74588

Not sure if a 46 will do for ya but its a shot.  hope you find a 45

Yes Dana it is and shifts smoothly. The body is rough but repairable. It is pretty complete & runs & goes & stops too!

I recently purchased #10536 VEC which has a replacement engine #J101325A (running 1947 CJ2A go devil).
I would like to replace the running engine with one that is correct for this VEC column shift 1945 JEEP if at all possible. Any info or help regarding this would be much appreciated in order to keep this historical vehicle correct for the future JEEP enthusiasts.
Thanks.
