Yes they use tubes. I consider that a good thing.

I love the look of those Super Traxions. Did you have to use tubes?

I put the 16" STA Super Traxions on mine last year and am very happy with them.

Looks good !
Your lucky to find a set of those KH 6.00 x 16" wheels. 1970 ? you say ....Are they welded or riveted wheels ? |

On a related note: what are the opinion(s) out there on painted versus powder coating wheels? I'm rebuilding a T3C and preparing to do a frame up resto on an M38, and have 7 wheels/tires to strip, blast, and paint. So, powder coat or paint is what I need to decide. Thoughts? Thanks John |

Just thought I would follow up. I purchased some 16" x 6" steel wheels (from about 1970 according to the seller). Had them blasted and powder coated.
Then I bought Firestone Destination M/T Tires in size 215/85R16. They look great and don't rub.
Pretty stoked about these! |

I run the 700-15 STA on my 3B they work very well. Descent traction seem to hold up fairly well. I don't put many street miles on them. Work very well in the dirt, but they do pick up and toss stones. I don't think NTDs will do that, not sure as I have never ran any.
I think Flatfender has a set of practically new STAs for sale.

My father in law has General 15 inch A/TX's on his and loves them. He previously ran the NDT's and likes the A/TX's better for snow traction, and wet handling and gravel. I have Super Traxion's on mine. They are on the 16 inch wheels and they are the 7.00, so they are a bit taller than the stock tire. They are great in the mud and gravel, but they do hold rocks and then throw them when you get on a paved road. My opinion is they are great for that vintage look, but most new mud and snow tires will get better traction in just about every situation besides maybe deep mud. I still think they look cool though.

My tires are closer to 31” ... maybe 31.5”
I have no experience with these BFGs but this looks like a pretty good tire, at least for in the west: https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/tires_topic44080_post440585.html?KW=Bfg#440585 |

I am very happy with my 215/85/16 Firestone Destination M/T tires on my 3A. Look good with a couple of inches lift over what I had. Good on the highway and good offload. Didn't have any clearance problems. There is a newer model out now but I would assume they are at least as good. Suspect there are many others in this size. I think JPET has something a bit bigger on his MB

Hulk,
I have had good luck with the STA Super Traction tires for off-roading in the Midwest - mud, show, sand and gravel. I have not used them for rock climbing (yet). Here is a link:

Hi Matt,
The question has been answered many times. I did an advanced search for "Traxion" and searched in the "topics" and found this thread: Sta super traxion .... if I search for "traxion" and choose "Message Body", I get a lot of info: https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/search_results_posts.asp?SearchID=20190129124835&KW=traxion ... if you do "tires" in "Topics", much more: https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/search_results_posts.asp?SearchID=20190129125117&KW=tires I don't have an personal input since I have mostly run NDTs. Have you done a search on this site? There are discussions/opinions posted. Those should help. Good luck.

No suggestions, other than that I must hate NDTs?

No hate at all -- I think they look cool. I've just heard and read that they are more sketchy for on-road use than tires with a more standard tread pattern.

Why the hate for military style NDTs?
