Can someone please tell me how to loosen the lock nut for the lower front brake adjusters. I have searched the manual, and this forum, but nothing about how to get a wrench on the lock nut. Not enough clearance for a box end, bad angle for an open end. Would a flare nut wrench work? This is not how it is pictured in the manual
Thank you, Roger

Not my picture, but this is what I used. Clean the threads as good as you can too before attempting to loosen. |

I also found that if you grind the wrench down a bit, it becomes even easier to use in that tight spot. Note: This is a cheap wrench from Harbor Freight.

I just made one of these wrenches and it really works well, but if you can find
an older offset wrench to use the angle is much tighter on the offset. I found one in an antique shop here in town. No one wants old wrenches.

You may also want to invest in a cam wrench too, I found one out on ebay for about twenty buck.

You can also get that 1/4" wrench from vintage European auto parts suppliers. It is the same wrench that is used on the wheel spokes of vintage European sports cars and they sell for around 10.00. I still get catalogues for vintage MG sport car parts from when I ordered one.

I did what Tim did too - ground down an old box wrench. If you have a gas torch, it also helps to heat and bend the wrench a little to improve the fit.

Thanks guys, with a little more research and finally typing the correct search parameters, I found some old threads addressing this as well. Gotta love the web and our ability to help one another!

Harbor freight sells a set of the off set wrenches cheaper than you can buy a single name brand. Search ebay for the 1/4" open end from snapon kroil seemed to penetrat the best to loosen it up
